The Importance of Architects and Code Reviews

When selecting an architect for a project, it’s important to remember that their job is to make your life easier, especially during the planning/construction phase! Most municipalities require a code review for commercial buildings and to issue a building permit. Doing a thorough job up front will result in fewer code review comments during the permit process.

Here are some statistics from projects that we submitted for code review recently:

– 3 comments on Sinking Spring, a 126,000 sq ft senior living facility. Only one of the comments required a minor drawing change.

– 2 comments on two of our most recent tenant fitouts in East Pennsboro Township. Only one of the comments required a minor drawing change.

– 4 comments on Mills at Shepherdstown, two buildings totaling just under 100,000 sq ft of retail and residential units. Only one of the comments required a minor drawing change.

– 0 comments on renovations to the 12,000 sq ft garden level of a 100-yr-old church in Sunbury, PA.

– 0 comments on Lee & Associates, 4,026 sq ft, in Mechanicsburg, Upper Allen Township, PA.
